Treat the trainee like any other employee who is due to resign. In addition the following tips may be helpful:

  • Ensure the trainee has informed the Primary Care Support Agency, especially if this is an ST3 placement and the trainee is due to complete training.
  • Ensure any leave owing is settled
  • Ensure the trainee has completed any handover activity for the work they have undertaken and for any activity outlined in local policy
  • Close the trainee file and ensure it is archived according to local policy
