South Region's Sustainability Conference: "Putting Sustainability into Practice"

The recently published PHE and NHS sustainability strategy http://www.sduhealth.org.uk/policy-strategy/engagement-resources.aspx proposed regional networks to help develop and support the sustainability agenda. The South Regional Network (SRN) is organising this conference to promote sustainability and share good practice across the health care, social care and public health system. The focus is on practical examples: what can organisations and individuals do to make a difference?
Where: Reading Town Hall
When: from 10.00 – 16.00 on Wednesday October 1st The programme is being developed by a small planning group and will be finalised over the summer. The overall aim is to share good practice and inspire us to new more sustainable ways of working.
We are planning participative workshops on the topics below:
1. Communications – how should we engage the public, patients, risk managers, the workforce and boards?
2. Adaptation and resilience – making it relevant ( heat, floods, air quality…)
3. Big futures – a vision of healthcare and hospitals for the 21st century. The green healthcare movement
4. Social Value – sustainable resilient communities
5. JSNAs – a sustainability chapter
6. Pharmaceuticals and medicines management
7. Good practice in commissioning and procurement
8. Co-benefits – positive health impacts of sustainable living
9. Transport, logistics and buildings
10. Sustainable Carbon emissions; measurement and modelling of services for providers and commissioners
