Taster Workshops on Learning to be Safer through Human Factors & Ergonomics
Category: Training - Other
Date: July 13th 2015
Location: Deanery House BS16 1GW
10.00am-12.00pm or 1.00pm-3.00pm
Health Education England (HEE) is working with the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF) to run a series of taster workshops to raise awareness about the importance of Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) and how it can be applied practically to resolve problems that prevent the delivery of efficient, high quality and safe care.
Human Factors & Ergonomics (HFE) examines the interactions of people and other elements of a system to understand physical and cognitive abilities (and limitations) and social and organisational behaviour to optimise human wellbeing and overall system performance.
Two taster workshops are being held on Monday 13th July 2015 at Deanery House, Vantage Office Park, Bristol, BS16 1GW. They offer a learning opportunity as part of Health Education England’s ‘Learning to be Safer’ programme and aim to:
1. Introduce the concept of HFE – what it is and how you can use it
2. Discuss integration between Quality Improvement and HFE – how different improvement methods can be aligned to support change
3. Understand how to design solutions to everyday problems by taking a HFE approach – ie how HFE can be applied practically
Prior to the workshop participants will be asked to complete a short survey to highlight the top five issues/challenges that they find prevent the delivery of high quality care. This information will help focus the agenda on the day. Participants will also be given some background reading in preparation for the workshop.
Who are these taster workshops for?
The workshops are multi-disciplinary and open to all staff working in healthcare, clinical and non-clinical, at every level. They are free to attend, however spaces are limited to 30 participants per workshop.
Workshops will last for two hours and there will be two in each location, one 10.00am-12.00pm and one 1.00pm-3.00pm.
